Blush Patrol
Topic: Blush/Blushers
Yesterday while looking for earrings, I stumbled upon some blush at the local mall. I KNOW that I was very ANTI-Hello Kitty, but when I found that my local MAC counter still had Tippy available, I had to buy it. No, I'm not proud of myself. Yes, I still find Hello Kitty stupid. Yes, I love the color. Clearly, I am a woman at odds with myself. Other items include WnW's Spotlight Peach and Warming Organics by Physician's Formula.
I am just loving Tippy, but the other two are much too similar to other blushers that I own. Oh well!

Topic: Hauls
I had no intention of buying these items...really, I didn't. However, after an awesome round of online shopping, I couldn't wait for my items to arrive. I figured a quick trip to the grocery store would help tide me over until my goodies arrived in the mail.
- L'Oreal Color Juice Stick in Watermelon Ice
- L'Oreal Endless Kissable Lipcolor
- Wet N Wild Diamond Brilliance Lip Sheen in Baby's Got Bling
- Wet N Wild Diamond Brilliance Lip Sheen in Shannon's Shiny Bit

The Wet N Wild's are predictably tacky to the touch, but I do love the colors. L'Oreal's Endless Kissable line is designed as a zero-transfer meant to last all day and be anti-fading...we'll see how that goes. The L'Oreal Color Juice is billed as a "sheer buildable color," and I love it already. Now, I just have to manage to NOT buy anything else until my packages arrive...

Shag Lipstick from MAC
Topic: Lipsticks & Glosses
While my cheeks are colorful playgrounds for cream blushers, shocking reds, Shimmerbricks and MSFs, I'm much more narrowed about what I use on my lips. When you have Chicklets for teeth, you need to be careful and so there are precious few lipsticks that I dare touch. For the most part, I'm a gloss woman. On the rare instances that I do wear lipsticks, I need something long wearing and low maintenance. I find everything I am looking for in MAC's shag. Because the color is not terribly harsh, I can quickly reapply it without having to use a mirror or excuse myself to the bathroom. It has just enough punch of color to make my lips noticable while not distracting from my eyes or cheeks. Shag's color is buildable, and able to go from sheer to glam in a couple of applications. If you are a lip pencil person, this goes beautifully with MAC's Cork - it holds the color in without giving you the outrageously tacky I'm-wearing-lip-liner-look. For sure, Shag is a rebuy for me!

The Art of Shaving's Shaving Cream
Topic: Hair Removal
Yes, it is for men. Yes, it is overpriced. Yes, you still need to give it a try. Although the Art of Shaving is a company devoted to mens' needs, this wonderfully lathering product is simply too good to leave to the lesser gender. While it comes in various "flavors," the Lavendar Oil for Sensitive Skin smells beautiful and feels super moisturizing in the shower. Most important to me, it doesn't cause any of that stinging that I get when shaving my legs. What started out as a sample, quickly became a staple - especially during this season of shirts and sundresses. The Art of Shaving line is carried by both Sephora and Macys, but PLEASE check your local TJMaxx or Marshalls first as I've seen them there as well.

Mark's For Goodness Face - Antioxidant Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30
Topic: Moisturizers & SPF
I don't like changing up my SPFs - when I find a good one, I tend to stick with it forever. When I got a sample size of this product, I prepared myself for a breakout that NEVER CAME! My face is extremely sensitive to physical and chemical sunscreens so this gets major points for not making my skin go crazy.
It took a long time (about 3 to 5 minutes) to fully rub it all into my skin, but after letting it set for about 10 minutes, it seemed to have fully absorbed. The lotion was indeed moisturizing and I didn't find myself having to use anything else, as I sometimes have to with sunblocks. The lotion has no overwhelming smells nor weird textures. I haven't tried much Mark/Avon in years, but if this is any indication, I'll be back for more!

Jonathan's Create Weightless Smooth No Frizz Hydrating Balm
Topic: Hair Items
Made for thick hair, Jonathan's No Frizz Hydrating Balm was JUST what I needed after a day at the theme park! When my naturally tightly coiled hair combines with chlorinated water, the results can be heartbreaking. I tried a bit of this after my regular 'poo and conditioner and found it to add a great amount of moisture while controlling the frizz. It was so good that I didn't even bother flat ironing my hair afterwards - something I always do. The "no frizz" doesn't last long - by the next morning, I DID have to bust out the GHD, but still, I was pretty excited about the results. Going forward, I'll keep a bottle of this in all my travel bags for days when I need to do a quick wash and don't have time for flatironing! Have a wonderful weekend!

Origins: A Perfect World Antioxidant Moisturizer with White Tea
Topic: Moisturizers & SPF
I've been using this on my face at night with glorious results. Origin's Antioxidant Moisturizer leaves my face soft when I wake up without having me look greasy or sweaty! Meant to be "anti aging and anti stress," this moisturizer is packed with white tea to soothe skin at the end of the day. This is a must have for anyone with dry or sensitive skins since it causes no irritation. Also, I didn't have a single breakout with this product - awesome! You can get a bottle of this from any Origins counter for $36. Please don't let the price put you off - a little goes a long way. The bottle suggests using this morning and night, but I would advise against it. While awesome in many ways, this does NOT have SPF and so I cannot recommend it for day time use.

Roots of NatureL Shea Butter Green Tea Oil Moisturizer
Topic: Hair Items
Good thing this was a sample because this product is so not worth it!
The insert claims that it restores the hair and scalp moisture balance, but I found it no different than the old school pink oil used in the 1980s. For the first hour after use, hair looks great. A bit after that though, things go downhill rather suddenly. Instead of looking shiny, my hair took on a greasy appearance. Instead of being "supple and managable," my hair felt like a poor matted dog's coat! Looking at the ingredients, I should have never tried it - its full of alcohols and parabens, both big no-nos in hair care. Sorry Roots of Nature, but this product will never enter my home again!

e.l.f's Hydro-Tint SPF 15
Topic: Foundations
When I ordered my e.l.f. brushes (reviewed here) I needed one more thing to kick in free shipping. Not wasting the opportunity, I grabbed their Hydro-Tint Tinted Moisturizer in Tone 4. I figured that if it was super bad, I'd just throw it away...which I did... First, the viscosity is off - I found the formula extremely runny and difficult to work with. When I say "runny," I mean...well...it felt like greasy water rolling on the skin. My color, Tone 4, is a dull greyish-brown that I can't imagine being flattering on any skin tone. Worst of all? The smell - it has a strange rancid fruit thing happening that's just too much to take. Not worth the $1 I spent on it - this gets a big thumbs down from me!
