Topic: MAC and MSFs
Hiyas - I thought I'd update you on how my New Year's Resolution is turning out. The whole idea behind it was to use up some of my makeup stash. The flip side is that because of my new position, I'm unable to use nearly half of my collection because the colors are simply too bright. Also, as I get older, I'm finding that I'm falling more and more in love with neutrals. So in addition to not buying, I'm also cutting things out. Sometime last week I cut my collection of blue and green shadows in half - tossing the rest out in the trash. I even dumped kitty litter in the trash over them to prevent me from digging them out like a mad woman. Also that week, I gifted a rather large box of cosmetics to an online friend (hope you love it!). I knew that if I kept them in the house I'd eventually talk myself into keeping them forever, so out they went. The only makeup purchases I've made since then have been the 3 MSFs from the BBR collection:
Since I'm in the process of leaving bright eyeshadows behind, I've had to find small ways of forcing color into my life. First of all, for the bright eyeshadows I do have, I'm only using them as accenting colors to a neutral eye - for example, Satin Taupe on the lid, with a hint of Humid or Naval in the outer third. Another way of adding in color is in nail polish. While I've always been a polish addict, I've now taken it to a new extreme and change my polish at least once every other day. Here are some of my recent nails:
Finally, the best thing about this No Buy is that I'm using my stuff up. Here's the latest thing that I've "hit pan" on:
I've been using Smith's Rosebud Salve to help sooth winter skin and cuticles with great success. I can't even tell you how proud I am of myself for (nearly) using something up!
