MAC Sugarsweet: Perfect Topping and Refined MSFs
Topic: MAC and MSFs

It is no secret that I love MSFs, love them like mommies love babies. So when the UPS truck pulled up earlier today, I was absolutely giddy. I was so eager that I actually snapped the casing of my box cutter to open the little black MAC box. The two new MSFs (Mineralized Skin Finishes) are absolutely beautiful in the pan. Check 'em out:

Cute, right? I know! Then...I swatched them...and my heart broke. Oh MAC, why do you do this? Something so promising became something outrageously lame:

They are shamefully blah! I mean, c'mon man. To be fair, they will make wonderful highlighters, but I need more highlighters like I need a hole in the head. Also, don't they look very similar, not only to each other, but to other recently released MSFs? I decided to sheer it out to show the subtle differences.

Yeah, me neither.

Only when applied very heavily do the differences begin to show:

So do you need both? Nope, only if you collect them as I do. Do you need either of them? Maybe, but don't let these be the first MSFs you try.

Don't feel bad about these MSFs because they were the reason I put, MAC - Sugarsweet, in my Blackberry for today, March 19! Well, I checked them out this afternoonand was so,so disappointed they looked better on the website than live and up close. Are you going to keep them?

@Sheluvs - I know! Well, I'm going to keep them, but only because I collect MSFs. There are some I like, some I like less, but I can't have an incomplete collection lol

Keeping them really speaks to your collector's passion - good on ya! I actually paid a little extra for Norther Lights after seeing a video of yours on YouTube. How do you use them - as blush or for all over pazazz?

I only use them has blushers and highlighters - I'm a natural born oil slick so if I'd put them all over, I'd look a mess lol

I got refined as a nice sweet light bronze it appears peachy on my skin (im verrrrrry pale in mac terms nc15ish) and perfect topping is deffinantly just a pinky white on my skin but there is a definant difference so maybe they just dont turn out on your skintone (bummer! I wanted great msfs )while I like them for not being glitterbombs or chalky ,they missed the mark :( I was dissapointed but they are so pretty that I had to get them :S

@capercorn girl - agreed! They are so pretty in the pan that I just had to have them. I've been playing with them all week and I've been using both as highlighters. In the words of Tim Gunn, I'll "make it work."
