Estee Lauder Ideal Light Illuminator
Topic: Concealers

A review of Ideal Light or rather, a story of how something so awesome could suck so bad.... be aware, there is gross picture in this post.

A quick run down of the main difference between concealers and illuminators: concealers cover up blemishes/discolorations opaquely while illuminators diffuse light/erase shadows to create a more awake or youthful appearance.  Those with heavy under eye circles may use a concealer first then an illuminator and those with minimal or no circles, would use the illuminator alone.

This does a wonderful job of "waking up" the under and outer eye areas. I've also use around my mouth and chin. My favorite use?  I love to put this just under my eyebrow to give me an instant brow lift. The formula is not cakey and looks perfectly natural when you apply it thinly.  It comes in 7 very forgiving shades - I use #5 Deep.  The illuminator lasts for hours but if you find yourself needing a touchup, you can easily swipe it over your face and move on.  It doesn't break out my sensitive skin, it has no odor and its small enough to throw in your purse. Still, as much as I love this product - I hate it.

LOOK at the picture below:

GROSS!  Look at tip - look at it!

Every.single.time. you use it, the liquid smooshes out.  It doesn't come on the brush evenly and instead of JUST using the tip, I have to use some other implement (usually fingers) to smooth it out. The fibers on the brush are soft, but not as "swishy" as I'd like. If you store it upside down or on its side, it can sometimes continue to ooze out.  You have to twist the bottom several times before any decent amount of product comes out, but by then you have too much and it dribbles down the side.  To keep it sanitary you have to alcohol swab it down each time after use. For that reason alone, I will not rebuy this product.

If you do want to give this a try, you can pick it up from any Estee Lauder store for $25.  Consider yourself warned.
