Review: Flirt's Pretty Easy Quick Cover Stick
Topic: Concealers

This is something everyone should have.

Yes.

Its meant to be a stick foundation, but I find it a bit too heavy/thick for that -especially during warmer months.  It does, however, make one of the best concealers I have ever owned.

It is a silicone based cream that dries to a powder within seconds. It covers imperfections completely and can easily be applied with fingers.  The tube is shorter than my pinkie finger and can easily be thrown into a purse or pocket for touchups during the day.   The finish of this looks just like normal skin and can be worn without foundation to cover it or powder to set it.  It is absolutely amazing.

The best part? Its only $12!  You can find this at any Kohls and it comes in warm AND cool shades.  Not only that, the shades fit I wide range of skintones from very light to very dark.  For reference, I use # 11 Warm Golden Goddess.  Now, get in your car, go to Kohls and pick up three of these: one for home, one for work and one for your purse.

Estee Lauder Ideal Light Illuminator
Topic: Concealers

A review of Ideal Light or rather, a story of how something so awesome could suck so bad.... be aware, there is gross picture in this post.

A quick run down of the main difference between concealers and illuminators: concealers cover up blemishes/discolorations opaquely while illuminators diffuse light/erase shadows to create a more awake or youthful appearance.  Those with heavy under eye circles may use a concealer first then an illuminator and those with minimal or no circles, would use the illuminator alone.

This does a wonderful job of "waking up" the under and outer eye areas. I've also use around my mouth and chin. My favorite use?  I love to put this just under my eyebrow to give me an instant brow lift. The formula is not cakey and looks perfectly natural when you apply it thinly.  It comes in 7 very forgiving shades - I use #5 Deep.  The illuminator lasts for hours but if you find yourself needing a touchup, you can easily swipe it over your face and move on.  It doesn't break out my sensitive skin, it has no odor and its small enough to throw in your purse. Still, as much as I love this product - I hate it.

LOOK at the picture below:

GROSS!  Look at tip - look at it!

Every.single.time. you use it, the liquid smooshes out.  It doesn't come on the brush evenly and instead of JUST using the tip, I have to use some other implement (usually fingers) to smooth it out. The fibers on the brush are soft, but not as "swishy" as I'd like. If you store it upside down or on its side, it can sometimes continue to ooze out.  You have to twist the bottom several times before any decent amount of product comes out, but by then you have too much and it dribbles down the side.  To keep it sanitary you have to alcohol swab it down each time after use. For that reason alone, I will not rebuy this product.

If you do want to give this a try, you can pick it up from any Estee Lauder store for $25.  Consider yourself warned.

Review: Makekup Forever Camouflage Creme Concealer Palette
Topic: Concealers

It is often hard for middle eastern, asian and african skintones to find a perfect concealer match and these Makeup Forever palettes can provide that much needed coverage. There are 5 different palettes (light, medium, tan, dark and professional) and each palette contains 5 colors that can correct different areas of the face.In my palette there is one used for my undereye circles and another for slight discolorations below my ear. The other colors are put in there for folks who fall in the middle or have a spot that's extra dark or extra light. I, for instance, mix the two in the middle for my eyes if didn't get enough sleep and I need extra coverage there. I understand that the phrase "mix the colors" may be daunting but it's actually done very simply - put your concealer brush in a light color spreading it out over the darkened area. Next take your brush in the color that most closely matches your skin and put it on top of the lighter color, going slightly over the edges so that it blends in better to your natural skin. If your discolorations are simply one color and you can easily be matched, Makeup Forever creates singles of many of these palette colors so be sure to check those out as well! Unfortunately the color I love the most isn't available as a single, but I'm more than happy with the palette.
